Council Bluffs Parks & Rec and HGM Associates preliminary designs for a fully inclusive playground to serve our community.

In partnership with Council Bluffs Parks & Rec, HGM Associates and Unlimited Play we have preliminary designs of the fully inclusive & accessible playground in Council Bluffs that will finally serve our ENTIRE community. We are hoping to design a one-of-a-kind destination experience that will elevate play to be for everyone, which will bring families together in play and joy. We truly believe this outdoor facility will put Council Bluffs on the map and attract so many from surrounding areas and become a destination facility for our region.

Inclusive Playgrounds Create a World of Possibilities for Every Child

A few features that will set this park apart from the rest:

All inclusive play area where kids can come together in play and one that will serve our entire community. Multiple play surfaces including an accessible zip line, swings, sensory play and pass through play surfaces for wheelchair users.
An accessible nature trail with interactive components along the trail.
Family style ADA compliant restrooms with oversized changing tables to accommodate all ages.
Fully fenced for safety, the entire playground will be enclosed with secure fencing to ensure a safe and protected environment for all children and families.

Miracle League baseball style fields. The surfaces of these fields will remove the barriers that keep children with mental and physical disabilities off the fields. Since the main barriers for these individuals arise from the natural grass fields used in conventional leagues, Miracle League teams play on a custom-designed, rubberized turf field that accommodates wheelchairs and other assertive devices while helping to prevent injuries. Dugouts also feature an open concrete concept that will be fully accessible for wheelchair users & visually impaired.
Covered pavilions for picnics, gatherings and a place to rest while your kids are enjoying the area.
